Is it time to allow individual clerical sex abuse threads

Is it time to allow individual clerical sex abuse threads, rather than herd all valid comments into one thread.?

For example somebody may have something to say about Raphoe, but the current topic in the merged thread could be talking about Cloyne.

Another person may have something to say about Brennan Smith which has nothing to do with either Cloyne or Raphoe

I feel that the merged thread is stifling debate on all sides .

Maybe a new sub section might be more appropriate where separate threads can exist , without clogging up the main Christianity forum

If you want a sub section you can go to Forum Requests or possibly Feedback.

Allowing individual threads on sexual abuse defeats the purpose of having a mega thread in the first place. It was created exactly because the forum was being clogged with they type of thread you want.

    I'm sorry but I don't understand

I'm not sure I see what the purpose of the mega thread is. Looks like a disorganized mess to me.

What do you mean by "clogged" ? Were too many people posting ? ( surely more people posting is good ) Were their posts not valid or uninteresting? Were they offensive ?

I will put in a forum request because I think that the megathread is like a " sweep it under the rug " whenever someone mentions the "a" word.

If these clerical abuse threads were confined to one sub section then they would not clog up the main forum

I'm not sure how I can explain it better, raymon. The purpose of the mega thread (all mega threads) is to collate all threads on sexual abuse within the church posted on this forum. We did this because we don't want repetition. In other words, we want to avoid people starting the same thread again and again however good or justified their intentions are.

Your claim that the mega thread is there to sweep things under the carpet is unfounded. With nearly 2000 individual posts it has the second highest number of replies on the forum ever recorded. And with nearly 50,000 views it also has the second highest number of views on the forum ever recorded.

That isn't sweeping it under the carpet.
