Well the limit is 55x40x20cm , so I think that bag may not fit as it is 'deeper' than 20cm .

Measure yours to be sure when it is full!

    Ryanairs maximum dimensions are 55cm x 40cm x 20cm

That bag is 56cm x 31cm x 28cm, so if it is packed full it won't fit.

I often bring a small sports bag that is outside the published dimensions. As long as it's not too full and you can squeeze it easily into the gauge then there's no problem.

Just take out a few big items like sweater, jacket or whatever and wear them or put them around your waist for the few minutes before boarding the plan. Once you've shown your boarding card walk in and put them back in the back. If you're stopped for having a big bag you should be able to squeeze it in with the sweater/jacket taken out.

As someone who's watched a lot of Ryanair passengers put their bags into the Ryanair bag size thingie, I think the above bag will be perfectly safe.
I was checked through first the last few times and was sitting right beside the bag size check thing and the Ryanair guys made the entire flight stick their bags into the blue frame thing.
All sports bags would fit, even ones much bigger than above. You can literally stuff it into the space. Much smaller hard case bags struggle to fit in, especially when the wheels are right on the edge.

Yea, I've found it's not that hard to get soft bags into those blue cages, and the gate staff don't seem to mind if people stuff it in! It's also handy the way they have a few test cages on the way to the gate, so you can test your bag before you actually board, so you know whether you should take anything out, or pack it more evenly.

However, I've read online that Ryanair have started to use these box things that they place over your bag instead of cages, which would mean there's less room for squishing. They didn't have them in Dublin or Stansted when I flew about 2 weeks ago.

I flew dublin to stansted and back over the bank holiday weekend, they checked bags using the blue box in stansted with alot of people. They had them in Dublin but didn't check anyones cases with it.

I got a little pink case in pennys for under 20e. I always bring it on ryanair flights. As long as it's not packed to the gills I can fit it in the box. :) (well you don't have to get a pink one....just copped your name! :P )

@Cassi any time I fly Ryanair from Dublin I always have to deal with the surly air hostesses asking you to put the bag in the box.

Your bag will be fine-just shove it in and try not to lift cage and all on pulling it out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My prob was a hard bag I got for xmas, with 4 wheels, which would be nice for my crocked back and I got it into the cage in Dublin and off I flew.
Prob was in Lanzarote, when a little "Hitler"made me put it in the cage there on the way back. It couldnt change size as 'twas a hard case with feck all in it, but it didn't fit in !!!
€35 later, I snuck it on board the plane and stowed it where it was on the outward flight, instead of giving it to the hostess to put in the hold!!!!
Back in Dublin I went upstairs to Departures, put it in the cage and guess what......it fitted grand !!!!!!!! Someones pulling a fast one, do they get commission on checked bags or what??????

They do. Although probably not as much on selling a set of e-cigs or a roll of scratchcards, because I've only been asked to even check my bag in the cage thing once.

If anyone is looking to buy a bag for Ryanair flights, this is the one I have and it's very good. It's surprisingly big, you can get a lot into them!

The staff didn't ask me to put it into the cage at Dublin or Stansted when I used it, maybe because it was on my back (they seemed to be targetting trolley bags) but I did check it and it fits easily!

I have this bag too and I haven't been stopped with it. I think if the staff see the "Cabin Max" logo they just let you on through without checking. It weighs practically nothing when empty (compared to bags with wheels) so you can get a pile of stuff in and not be over the weight limit.
