Presumably, this is the price drop we've been hearing about. Same console in same colours is €164.99 in Smyths so must be a decent price!

Nintendo 3DS is a groundbreaking hardware release that brings 3D gaming to the handheld market for the first time. The fourth major release in the DS product line, the Nintendo 3DS utilises 3D Slider functionality and an improved top LCD display to present a glasses-free 3D effect on compatible games, while giving players the option to moderate the effect as they see fit. Taken together with additional features including full analogue control in 3D game environments, motion and gyro sensors that transfer the movements of the handheld into the game, 3D camera functionality, an adjustable stylus and full backwards compatibility and you have not only a must-have system, but a revolution in handheld gaming.

Paid the full whack for this two months ago. Quite annoying.

Did you get your 20 free games?

Heading over to London next month, will probably pick this up in the airport on the way back. Perhaps in the very same Stansted HMV I bought my DS.

To think that a DS Lite was priced at €150 right up until it was replaced by the DSi, where now you have a superior console that has only been out a few months priced less.

I don't think it's doing as good as the lite?

They aren't available til next month I don't think. I am glad about the chance to play some of the old NES games on a handheld. But, I'd rather the €100+ in my back pocket.

    Ah well.

Yes, but the last day to sign up for them was yesterday. I'd be sickened if I was an early adopter and missed the free games.

Agree with you 100% by the way, I'd also rather the €100 in my back pocket.

Ah yeah, I'm all set up for them and stuff. I just can't get them yet. Some many games to get through over the next few months as it is, and now there's 20 more. It's a hard life

The first 10 games are out on September 1st (all NES titles).
The other 10 are GBA titles and are due before the end of the year.

How do you come to that conclusion, mind me asking?!

Would you recommend this for a 6 yr old, my son wants a ds for Christmas and I was thinking of getting the ds xl for him but this seems like a good deal.

What is the story with the 20 free games that someone mentioned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

The window for getting the 20 free games has passed. It was a reward for early adopters (people who bought the console before yesterday's huge price drop) as a way to say thanks for the support.

Worth to mention that the black is actually sold for £115

The price has gone up a bit now by the looks of things.

I presume this "price war" only really applies in the UK.

    Amazon matches Tesco Price War

Also, does anybody know if eBitsi deliver to Ireland? If so, are they any good/fast delivery?

    TheHUT.com are selling it for £119 = €135

Bought one online from Gamestop.ie last night for our daughter:

    €154.97 + €2.00p&p = €156.97 ;)

    Eh, I wouldn't say that.

A parental lock on a potentially harmful piece of technology (aimed at kids) isn't going to be the end of the story (if the article ends up being proven beyond reasonable doubt).

It seems that Nintendo will be opening the window again - according to their UK site - so if you haven't registered yet, you'll soon be able to use a receipt to show that you bought it before the price drop.

Yup, but I was answering a question from someone who was tempted to buy one if she got the free games. Her receipt would exclude her from the deal.

That article was from January and Nintendo already advertise the 3DS as for being for 7 and above.
