Wipers out of sync and tangled

Hi, as per post title, my windscreen wipers went out of sync and tangled earlier on. Queue me leaping out to untangle them, only for one of them to make a clanking sound and only partially lift when activated. The wiper on the driver side still works fine.

What's the cause, what's the solution, and what's the cost?

    Thanks :)

Have a peak at the wiper linkages, they can get loose on some cars, others have washer type yokes that wear out. When one is working normally that would indicate the motor is fine.

Might not be recommended, but the wiper than only goes half up has just jumped a few splines. You could turn the wiper on, once the other wiper gets to the top position, turn the ignition off, leaving the not broken wiper at the top. Gently move the other wiper by hand further up the window. Dont force it, but you might get lucky.

When the wipers are off, lift up the little flap at the base of the passenger side wiper arm. You'll see a little nut, loosen this off, adjust the wiper arm to its correct position and retighten. If that doesn't work it's a problem with the linkages.
