Hi guys, have a quick question for ya's. Not sure how many of you will be able to answer it but here it goes :P

Considering moving to Fisherman's Wharf this year, Route 3 from bridge street looks like my best decision. Now my question; Does anyone here know how long approx the bus takes to get to UCD in the morning and evening, taking into account traffic and what not.

Would help alot in deciding my future living arrangements! Cheers!

It is stated as 30 minuts, but that will vary. Only some number 3s go to UCD.

    Bike might be another option.

    Cheers man!

I think most of them during the day go to UCD, unless i'm reading the whole "u" thing wrong!

Bike probably will be my main option, but one has to consider those rainy days!

Do bear in the mind, that as part of Network Direct, the 3 will eventually only go to Parnell Square. There's nothing in ND which says that some of the 3's will continue out to Belfield.

How much of ND was due to actual study of what the people wanted, again...?

The 2 will really be a bifurcated route 3. Since it was decided that the 14 ought not go to Shanard Road, a route 3A was created. Don't understand why, of all things, the 2 wasn't instead extended northwards to run to Shanard Road to take over the 16's running there. Seems simple enough to me:
    • Route 2: Shanard Road to Belfield, bypassing St. John's Church
    • Route 3: Larkhill to St. John's Church

The plan is that the 2 will operate from Mountjoy Square to UCD Belfield via Ringsend and Sandymount (15 minute peak and 30 minute off-peak).

Could someone post a link to the ND page on the DB website which covers the changes to the No. 2 route please.

I've searched all of the ND2 pages and can see no mention of the 2.

I frequently need to get from Deansgrange to Sandymount and the best way at the moment is to get a 46A to UCD and then a 3 to Sandymount but I see I'll need to get the 2 in future as the 3 won't do the southside any more. The Dart from Dun Laoghaire is also an option but the No.3s from UCD currently leave on the hour and half hour so it's easier to plan the journey.

Route 2 is essentially a route 3 that stays southside.

They've slipped off it - but that was the original plan and I don't think it's changed.

It originally said the following with route 2 operating every 15 minutes peak and every 30 minutes off-peak.

    Pearse Street / Sandymount Areas
    • Routes 2 and 3 will be amalgamated and will operate from UCD Belfield via Sandymount and Ringsend to Mountjoy Square. This will help deliver reliable intervals between departures (Not shown on Map Diagram).
