Im a bit worried about my tax situation and would like some help or advice.
At the moment i have a full time job and am paying tax but for nearly three years 2007,2008 and 2009 i was self employed in a partnership with my friend as a courier which we made a total mess of and didnt put any vat returns or income tax.
we didnt make a whole lot of money but im sure through fines and stuff we will owe thousands and i am not making much now.
i really just want to know what will happen to me. are they flexible with paying things back or will they demand X amount straight away or else prison.

im not a bad guy just made a lot of bad decisions.

Buy a jar of Vaseline. I've already bought mine. Prison brings rights and benefits and enlistments and the list is endless.

    Prison is your friend.

That would be grand if there was sand to bury head in.

You should just speak to an Accountant, shouldn't cost too much for some once off advice but they could save you a fortune and put your mind at ease - ask around for recommendations. Its unlikely to go away and you'll just be stressed in the meantime worrying about it. Maybe try Citizens Advice first, they're usually quite good and are impartial.

They can go back as far as they like. It would be far better for you to have an accountant look at it for you. You might not owe as much as you think. Then you could make a voluntary disclosure. It's better to do this than have them come to you as you risk the possibility of publication in their quarterly lists of defaulters
