I think that looks to be only a small bit below asking price for ST's at the moment. I think the large roadtax puts a lot of people off them

in b4 the "motor tax" crowd

I think they will even struggle to sell it at that price.

Not a great car to be selling heavy road tax and fuel economy. All people seem to want now are small diesels. Lovely engine though...

I was nearly in before the "road tax" crowd, but they got in in the OP.

    It's 224g so just sneaks in to the €1050 by 2g. https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/motortaxinfotype.do

the reg looks like it might be 08 D 26xxx so that would put it into the old system, €935 a year if that's the case

I think the market for these has evaporated in recent years with the recession, late 20's/early 30's males working a trade on a site.

They're not taxed at the €935 rate as they are over 2500cc :)

A mk1 frs would be cheaper to own and run. Similiar power too, maybe tuned for a bit more. That st2 is a heavy bus in every sense of the word.

I dont think the tax is the issue. As someone said, the target market can no longer afford any aspect of the running costs of these.

Yep, with the USC lower tax credits etc folk that are still working and on a decent wage are still down a few hundred a month take home, the running costs of that make the demand for it very small. Some car for the money though, the image doesn't appeal to most folk that can afford to pay for it though me thinks.

Even so, 2008 cars have a choice of whichever is the cheaper rate, regardless of whether it was registered before or after July.

It's a decendant of that engine block yes, but is not really the same engine.
