Hi I have a dell XPS420 that has died I reckon the psu has failed. On the Dell website people are saying you can use any standard ATX PS but you need one with 6 sata connections. Can't find one on ebay  just one from the US which is OEM but its 36 euro shipping  Anyone any ideas?

Most PSUs have at least 4, why don't you just buy a splitter and put it on exissting Sata connections?

Recommended PSU wattage at least 500w

Getting an OEM for 25 off adverts so hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks for the advice.

For anyone else who may have this problem, I jumped the PSU by putting a wire in the hole for the green wire and the black wire on the motherboard power connector. This showed the PSU was not to blame:rolleyes:

So I then disconnected the I/O board by pulling the loop directly below the PSU and voila it booted so I then checked the I/O board and the pins on the USB port were bent into each other causing a short I presume.

Straightened them out and all is good!:)
