Crazy Neighbours

    Hi All,

We are renting a house in a nice estate and have been here for 6 months so far. Didnt have much problems except for our next door neighbours.

Last night my housemate went to the shop up the road with a friend of ours who is staying over with her daughter who i was minding while they went to the shop, anyhow when they got to the door a taxi pulled up with one of the next door neighbours who seemed to be fairly off his head.

He followed my housemate into the house and demanded a coffee and my friend and her daughter swiftly went upstairs. Anyhow the longer he stayed here the more aggressive he got. He threatened to shoot us if we ever crossed him, or he'd set the house on fire. He told us he was a drug dealer even offering us stuff which was turned down. He also said he has the guards after him which we know is true, as they have called numerous amounts of times but nobody answers the door. He was also trying to start a fight with my other housemate. I had to leave the room as I was so scared.
Shortly afterwards my housemate escorted him to the door.

We have had a few problems with them. They have had parties during the weeknights, even blasting vevuzulas at 5.30 in the morning.
We have never complained about the noise though.

Today our landlord came to visit us and we decided to tell him about what happened. He told us to inform him if it happens again, he cant have that going on. He also said the landlord from next door kept ringing him about us, telling him how we were loud and have cats and dogs with us. We dont, although there is a lot of strays around here and we never had a party.

I'm at loss what to do, if it ever happens again. I'm actually intimidated of my neighbour. :(

Sorry to hear about your situation Karona.

I have had unruly neighbours in the past and Im afraid my best advice would be to move.

The guards have remarkably little power, and since you didnt mention him causing physical harm to anyone, the guards wouldnt honestly be able to do more than a slap on the wrist and worst of all he would know you were in contact with them regarding him.

If you are staying there, I suggest you do call in to your local guarda station and discuss your situation, if only to make them aware this happened for their files. Im pretty sure they'll tell you what I just have, unless you have something to get rid of him, dont go poking him.

Also, keep your landlord up to date with any notable actions.

Or just what I opened with, get the hell out of there.
