Bent exhaust pipe on a 2007 BWM 318D

Thinking of buying a second hand car and quite like this particular car. (=It has a nice sunroof.)

The exhaust pipe looks strange (bent downwards). The bumper may have been changed as well. Could this be a problem? Does it have to be fixed?

Is it not just to prevent the (lovely clean, environmentally friendly and perfect for city use) diesel smuts from dirtying up the back of the car?

No, that particular one was reversed into a kerb or low wall.

looks like a standard ES/SE bumper to me, although the exhaust tip looks a little flatened.
And all E90 diesels from 2005 until the LCI in 08/09 had the downward exhaust.

Well, the pipe edge faces the ground for sure ...

But these kind of bumps shouldn't mess up the car itself, right? I would hate to get myself in trouble buying it ...

... and the salesperson tried to explain how it may be a different type of an exhaust pipe which is also sold in the BMW store which is bent down to face the ground ...

    Could it be true?

No, that one has definitely either been hit or reversed into something. Is this a BMW dealer?

OP again ... So it is really facing down because it was produced like this???

It's facing down because it was made like that, but the upper tip is bent down from an impact.

... So it is not normally facing down? Or by facing down, you mean that the top part of the end of the exhaust is a bit longer than the bottom part?

... Does this have to be fixed?

Nope, when BMW introduced Efficency Dynamics in 2007 to the E90 the tail pipe was changed to an oval shape, the same as on the 520d. Mine is a pre LCI 08 model and has an oval shape tail pipe like this:
