fiat punto wiper problem

    Hi,

I'm in a spot of bother...

I have a 2001 fiat punto, never had any problems until yesterday, the rear wiper just started going by itself, even with no key in the ignition, then the front wipers sort of jammed and made a "I'm trying to work but I can't" noise and won't work at all now.

Any idea as to what's going on?

Can anyone recommend a mechanic in south county dublin, I'm not from here, only visiting so I don't know anyone.

    Thanks

don't know about the rear wiper but the front is a common problem. We also have an 01 punto, lift the bonnet and see if the wiper linkages have fallen down. Fiat try and charge crazy money to replace the parts but a mechanic can fix it by drilling a hole in them and putting a split pin in them. The head gasket is another thing that goes in them i'm sorry to say

+1 on the front linkage. be careful because it is a easy fix but you mite get a guy trying to pull a fast one saying he had to replace the whole motor.

Surely the stalk should be under suspicion

    thanks for that

I got it sorted, right after all the electrics started going nuts, indicators, wipers etc.
It turned out to be the earth junction box, got it replaced by fiat people and all is well with my little car now.

....and actually I did have that problem with the front linkage before, took it to a mechanic and he put a pin in it and wouldn't charge me for it
