    Thanks for any help.

As T5 is the international terminal I would imagine the EI have all their 'setup' equipment in that area.

EI would probably have a dedicated gate in T5 and to start using a different terminal would cause logistical problems.

No big deal, get the train over to the other terminals.

Probably will be something like T4 in JFK, you will bypass Border and customs and go straight to baggage reclaim, maybe, just guessing.

Be warned that on your return flight from T5 in ORD as I discovered last year is that there is nowhere to buy a beer skyside. The skyside area has just loads of wide open space, a couple of small duty free shops and a cafe. There is a bar before you go through security though.

Thank christ for that. As someone who is 6ft 6 tall I find flying is an absolute hell and need to get the few scoops into me before I take off to aid the sleep and quicken the journey. I fly to PDX 2-3 times a year and ORD was an airport I used to detest on my layovers for that reason.

Weird, I fly to PDX about 3 times a year too and usually through ORD. I'm going there Wednesday.

Lately we've found it cheaper to go via Amsterdam with KLM. Aer Lingus have kind of priced us out of it for going with them.

I did it once and vowed "never again" - the plane was awful and no AVOD meant a long, boring trip.

Which option are you referring to?

Which option are you referring to, as EI have had AVOD on all aircraft for 2-3 years now. And with their oldest A330-300 being delivered in 2007 they have one of the youngest fleets across the Atlantic.
Was talking about KLM AMS to PDX

AMS to PDX used to be KLM but Delta do the route now. That's why its cheap, at the moment. There is a lot to be said for doing the trek to PDX with Aer Lingus via ORD. ORD is the half way line when you can get over how bad ORD is to fly out of going international.

I think it's worth the extra money too tbh. There is a lot of EI bashing, but in fairness to them I find their long-haul service very good for the most part. I also have the option to connect at ORD with United or Alaska, both of whom I find to be very good.

its either EI-EAV or EI-EDY your flying on on wednesday given that nothing technical arises between now and then.
