Loosing TV in heavy showers

I have a standard dish on my chimney, it was installed by sky a few months back. I since cancelled sky and use free tele on a VU+ Duo.
We have just had a very heavy shower of rain and I lost all my sat channels completely. The VU reported SNR hovering around 6 - 14% and AGC remainded at around 70%. The shower is now over and channels are back. SNR 57%, and AGC 71%. BTW the dish is a mesh oval(ish) type.

Do I need to re-tune /align that dish?

No, it happens to me all the time when there's a really heavy summer downpour .

Were the readings similar before, if so no harm done, if they weren't wing it for a while until the channels start to disappear before you bother doing anything .

As last poster says, it should be ok once weather is not too bad. But would be worth alligning your dish for better signal and you will avoid heavy rain dropped signal. Skys 28.2 satellite has a strong beam so you should easily be pulling in 90% signal which may drop in very heavy rain to 60 but will be strong enough then not to lose picture in bad weather

Yea, I've a SNR today of arounf 65%, thats always been as strong as it ever was. So you reckon I can do better. Wonder why that sky installer didn't achieve such? It'll be a pain now to re-align it. Cost a fortune to get a TV installer out to do it, and I have no meter or ladder so can't do it myself. Might just live with it.
