Had more or less decided I was buying a passenger outlander (2008). Then started hearing a lot of stories about poor reliability. I like the look of tiguan but know noone with one. Which vehicle is best ? Any advice welcome. Need 4x4 2 litre diesel. Thanks all !

Engine in the original outlander was a 138bhp VW unit, not sure if it had problems with injectors or not though....

Have an 2010 Outlander for the last 18 months with over 30k klms on it with no real issues aprt from a creaking brake noise. Pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin.

Pro's are comfort, boot size equipment levels, selectable 4WD with Diff lock option and so far reliability

Con's are drinks diesel in urban driving (28mpg), very poor paint quality and terrible radio reception

Got mine new with the €14k discount so can't complain :D

Thanks for that info. Does it have good road handling ? I have a Nissan x trail at moment & going around bends you have to crawl or will end up on other side of road !
