I did it at home using Kaplan books in December 2010, came second in Ireland.

The course changed somewhat for June 2011 so make sure you get up to date materials.

wow, congratulations. that is some achievment.
is it easier or harder? how long did it take you to complete the course?
how many hours a week did you study?

I don't believe there is any difference in the level of difficulty of the exam but the subjects covered has changed slightly.

As for the work I put in I started studying in mid-September (took 3 other exams in December as well) had the course finished about 3 weeks before the exam (Kaplan Text Book including the Test Your Understanding questions plus the ACCA technical articles). Then solved most of the exam kit over the next few weeks and reviewed the past exams and examiner reports. Until the last 2-3 weeks I probably spent about 3-4 hours per week on each subject, maybe more on the occasional week when I panicked that I hadn't got enough done.

I recently purchased the BPP study text, revision kit and passcards from The Book Depository, and the total I paid was €52. All are for exams in 2011. Think it is €80 on the BPP site for what I ordered.
