Calculating Employers Contribution to maternity benefit

    Hi There,

I am trying to convince my employers to pay for my maternity leave (as it is at the discretion of my manager). I am a good employee, only 4 sick days in the past 4 years and overshot all my targets for the past few months, which is no mean feat in this recession. (I'm in Sales) Anyway as a result of hitting those targets I am in line for a bonus of €5,000 at the end of the month. I was thinking of suggesting they keep this and use it towards paying my maternity leave.....

anyway I am getting 634.31 per week gross, so if you deduct max maternity benefit that leaves it at €354.61 a week which would cost them €9219.86 in total to cover the 26 weeks...Am I calculating this correctly, or do they get any other form of credits/reductions to this?

    Thanks in advance,

any advice or opinions appreciated... ;)

If they pay you during maternity leave they will also have to pay employers PRSI.
