Springboard and FAS course

I am unable to do BTEA as hoped as I have to pay full fees (about 4000 euro each year for 3 years) because I did 1.5 years of a degree back in 1996/1997 (very long story and lots of phone calls to Dept of Higher Education, Social Protection, Citizen's Information etc.) If I had only done 1 year I would not be eligible for tuition fees but because I want to do a lower Fetac than what I was doing before that is the way the cookie crumbles..

Anyway - moving on - I would like to do a springboard online course (just heard about the courses over the weekend) but signed up last week to do a FAS evening course from September - is it possible to do the two or must I choose one? And if I don't go on the FAS one to do the Springboard one do I get penalised for my JSA? No one seems to know....I rang both FAS and the Bluebrick crowd....

I just want to work - but I realise that to get a job (or even an interview!!) I need more skills.....

Springboard allows you to keep benefits and pays the fees,(most run in the evenings)also some use a blended learning delivery approach.

A lot of colleges allow exemptions for prior learning so you should look into it closely, springoard courses especially in the institutes of technology seem very logical, completed one last year, superior to any Fas alternative.

There is a lot of misunderstanding between some of the Goverment agencies, try phoneing the course provider for info.
As far as I can gather you cant do the 2 together, your PSI number is required and if you accept a course on Bluerick your other applications are deleted
    Good Luck

Don't worry about it, fas and springboard are two different programs so I'll say you'll be alright just as long as the courses don't clash with one another. And I never heard of anyone ever getting penalized for not taking a course.

Yay! I got accepted for the Springboard course and I called in to the Fas office and am entitled to do both seeing as the Fas is just a 10 week evening course. If the Fas was a daytime course it would not be compatible with the Springboard course...
