    I'm a little confused.

I done me theory test and passed last saturday (39/40 get in :pac:) got and filled out the learner permit form i got in the garda station. Got the eye test form filled out and stamped. Now what do i do? where do i go? do i que up somewhere, can i post it... i really don't know what to do :o

Also, i have a passport here; will that be ok instead of having to go looking for a long birth cert?

I'd appreciate the help if you could point us in the right direction.. :)

You'll need to go to the motor tax office and fill out an application for a learners permit. I know there's one in Nutgrove Shopping Centre and Tallaght (The Square).

Should find more info on it here.

You can use your passport as a form of ID rather than a birth cert. Don't forget to have two passport sized photos with your first learner permit application form. You can go to your local Motor Tax office and hand it into them. They can process it straight away and you get your learner permit there and then otherwise fill out your form and post it to the Motor Tax office and you get it in the post, time can vary when you get it in the post depends how quick they get it processed. I suggest to go to the Motor Tax office and get it processed there and then even if it means being in a queue!

You bring your theory test certificate, your eyesight form, 2 passport photos (sign both of them on the back), your passport, the fee for a learner permit (was €15 when I got it in 2009, it's possibly more now) and go queue at your local motor tax office.

I'm not sure how long it will take to get to you once you apply, I know there's a huge backlog in licence applications in Dundalk. My brother is still waiting nearly 4 weeks for his full licence!

Unfortuneatly you can't drive with an accompanied driver or take lessons until you have the actual learner permit in your hands!
