Which Camcorder with HD Video and an Audio Input?

Hi guys, Im looking to buy a camcorder for a video project I am working on. I thought a microphone input would be a very simple feature on a camcorder but it seems that that feature only comes on Units that cost over €1000. Has anyone got any recommendations, or know where to find on cheaper?
