    Hi all,

Need some advıce on my options here. I'm currently on holidays for a few weeks and one of my friends decided ıt would be hilarious () to put a passcode on my phone...which he forgot. The phone is now disabled and I need to do a restore. Problem I'm having is that with the poor broadband where I am the connection is timing out before the 667MB file downloads.

What are my options with this? I'm giving the download one last try at the moment but not holding out much hope.

    Cheers

It's more of an IT issue than an iPhone issue. Get yourself a download helper. If you're using Firefox, something like downloadthemall, it'll split the download into a couple of parts to maximise what little broadband you have, and in the event of a disconnect, can reconnect from where you left off.

You should show him how funny the fist of destiny is, won't fix your problem but should help you feel better.

If you can't find a decent internet connection get a cheap unlocked phone to get you by for a few days and just pop your sim in it, any store should have a sim adapter if your using a micro sim.

are you in country or abroad? Can you call into one of us boardies and use our internet?

it sounds like iTunes is having issues with the file size and crappy connection. I dont think you can use firefox to download the file.

You can indeed, all the IPSW's are linked on iClarified. You then just restore in itunes using the downloaded IPSW file.

his problem is that the broadband connection is flaky and often doesn't stay alive long enough to download the ipsw file. i fail to see how a vanilla install of firefox will fix this unless there's an extension you can get that resumes downloads.

Just an update, managed to find somewhere with a reliable connection and service is resumed:D

I thankfully backed it up right before I left so can restore it properly when I get back.

    Cheers for the replies!

Which is why in my post, I recommended he use a download tool like downloadthemall.
