Serious Issue with Iphone 4 - dead after update

Was updating Iphone 4 when error occurred and now all I have on screen is the connect to Itunes graphic with the cable pointing to itunes logo.

Cannot get the laptop to recognise the Iphone - not showing up in Itunes nor as an external USB device in My Computer. Tried all 3 USB ports. Tried rebooting computer from complete power down as well as soft reboot.

However in Control Panel/Devices and Printers/ there is a device listed as Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)

No phone and need it urgently - any ideas please?

    ITunes Ver: 10.4.0.80
Iphone had Ver 4.3.4 (i think!)

Ok - have managed to restore phone so for anyone else that has this issue here's how!

Go into Device Manager and find the Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode) - I found it in other devices rather than in USB Controllers.

    - Right click and uninstall.

    - Unplug phone from USB and then plug it back in!

Computer should recognise it and reinstall Apple device driver.

    Itunes should then recognise phone.

I had to restore the device to factory settings and it then restored the phone from a back up!

Happy days and happy (relieved) camper!

    :)
