    Hi Guys,

Complete idiot here, I thought I could simply re partition my linux drive to remove linux yesterday (Installed about 6 months ago and used it once). I reformatted the free space but when I turned on my laptop this morning it said Error with GRUB??

Has anyone had this problem before I was googling the issue and it said to burn the Windows vista recovery disc and it will fix it?

Anyone got a step by step? Much help is needed :(

You have removed the boot manager files (Grub) when you destroyed the partition.
There are facilities on most Win disks to reinstate the Windows boot manager.

You need to write the Win boot manager to the MBR of the disk .... some googling will give you detailed answers.

    regards.

    Thanks a million,

From what I can see I st have to pop in the recovery disk and run some code and it should fix it, these bloody things are never simple!

    Glad you're sorted :)

Really simple - when you know how :D:D

If you still have a little interest in Linux have a look here, and maybe use it as a live CD or USB to see how it suits.

Live USB runs much faster than CD so gives a better experience. It is also possible to save changes for the next time when using USB.

Great fun to play with :D

Yeah I had messed around with it in college and thought it was interesting but when I actually installed it, I hadnt a clue how to do anything with the commands and stuff I could only use the basic features, even installing java took me hours, I felt lik my parents trying to use windows!!! :D:D:D

    Hehe ... can understand that.

The link I gave should allow your parents to use Linux without any problems .... so you should find it even easier ;)

Most users never have to resort to the command line, as there are GUI tools for most everything.

    ;)
