My android is dead!

I have an LG Optimus GT540 for the last year. I got it free through work at the time.

Truth be told, I'm not wildly into touch phones.

Anyway, it was running Android 1.6 and was painfully slow. I plan on buying a new phone and giving the LG to my brother.

Last night I tried to update 1.6 to 2.1 in an attempt to possibly make me love the phone again. 1.6 was very slow and buggy for me. It screwed me over manys a time :p

Anyway, the update was going successfully until 91% when it stopped, phone went black, wont turn on, wont charge, wont do anything. None of the fastboot techniques work. Its bricked.

Is there a way to get it back running?

LG want me to give it to one of their technical engineers to fix (which will no doubt cost me).

I'm gonna go find a new phone this week but would like to have this running to give to my brother.

    Any advice appreciated!

    :)

Same happened me while upgrading before. It's a brick imo. I left mine into O2 to be serviced took a week, is yours still in warranty ?
If it doesn't reposnd to fastbook which it won't unless you isntalled one of the KDZ builds with fastboot and I don't think 1.6 had anything like that.

Best bet imo let it get repaired. I have mine one upgraded to teh latest cyanogenmod 2.3.5 and OC to 806 Mhz and it's not that bad of a phone. FOr entry into Android anyway. If it costs you to get repaired maybe the new Android Smart on vodafone or there's a samung galaxy europa on BA for 40 quid too.
    Linky.
