Businesses setting up personal profiles is against the FB rules as far as I am aware.
How come there is so many doing it and getting away with it? Is it not policed or is there just too many pages to keep on top of ?

Someone I know set up their business as a personal page because their business page had very few fans, now they have thousands of friends and a lotmore interest and activity but..
I have seen a few posts where people had their pages deleted for this but it seems to be very rare.

I certainly won't 'friend' a profile that I know is a business and plenty of people won't.

Pages still work better for businesses and I can't see why anybody would want a profile over a page. There were some minor advantages at teh very start of Page but they've gone. Plus your competitor will have a problem when they hit friend number 5,000! The other risk they run is that if Facebook finds them, they'll just delete the profile for breaching their terms of service.

Most people seem to set up Profiles by accident for their business and then have the big headache of converting to a page.

You can always hit 'report' if you feel aggrieved!

 thats a whole lot of assumptions you are making there:confused:

My cousin ( not a competitor)has a Business page and found it hard to get people to 'Like' it. She set it up as a personal profile and found it way easier to get people to accept friend requests.
She suggested I do the same. I have not. Jeeez:rolleyes:

A personal profile can't have more than 5,000 friends. You need to start ditching people then to add more.

You can't "like" a personal profile. Like is what you see in all marketing activity, yet your friend can't do this. SHe has probably found easy to "friend" people she knows but the further she moves outside of that circle the harder it will be.

She can't access all the functionality that is offered to Facebook pages - applications, analytics, check ins, advertising etc. Even being able to view the page fully without login (though you can have your profile set to quite public).

Everyday she runs the risk of being deleted without warning from FB for breaching their terms of service and spamming people.

Don't follow her example! What sort of biz is she running, how many fans and sure post the link up here. It's a business after all!
