    Hi all.

We are in Dublin for a few days and we went to start the car at 8pm this evening but when I turned the key nothing happened. No warning lights or nothing. It had been fine all day.

We rang my insurance company and they got a recovery person out to me who tried to jump start the car, but no luck.

It has now been towed to the garage and won't know what is wrong with it until the morning.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks!

Did you have ignition lights or any form of life in the battery or was everything completely dead?

Although the jumpstart should have worked if the battery was run down?

Did you leave anything on when you left the car?

Lights, radio etc were all working.

Garage thinks that it could be the starter??

    Sounds like a reasonably possibility.

If the car is now in the garage, you may as well wait for their diagnosis of the problem. I'm sure running a few tests should show something definite.
At this stage, in my opinion, there is little point in trying to guess what it might be when you will likely have an answer of some sort soon from the garage. You may or may not require a second opinion at that stage.
    Good luck with it.

    Thanks chinwag.

We are going to wait it out and see what happens, they will ring with a price first anyway.

I would have thought if it was the starter then the lights would have come on on your dash??, If it is your starter and it happens again, pull the bonnet and tap the starter a few times and it should start. My moneys on the battery.
