I just noticed while on facebook that the adress no longer has the "s" in the https//. What difference does this make to the security of your page?

    Thanks

This means that the connection between your computer and facebook is not encrypted.

https://www.facebook.com/ still works for me though

Its not encrypted without the https. Technically, anyone with access to the network you are on could see details going between you and Facebook.

Many apps don't yet support https, meaning it needs to drop the secure connection to be able to use the app. You should get a warning before this happens though and need to click a confirmation. It will come back as a secure connection if you sign out and back in if a secure connection is the default setting.

Yes, you've probably used an out of date application. When visiting a page you may have been prompted to use of secure browsing in order to use the application.
