Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum, if it's not, apologies to the Mods and feel free to move it to wherever necessary.

I am repainting my living room, i currently have Vinyl Silk (Sheen) on the walls, i found a nice colour i want but it's Matt, and that wont go over sheen, because it would flake etc so another paint i want is a Mid Sheen, is this suitable to cover the wall with the paint i current have or would this cause the wall to flake aswell?

Hope someone can help me on this as the person in Woodies wasnt very informative

The matt should stick just as well.

I would go to a specialized paint shop if you can. They will be able to address your concerns properly (for example MRCB in Dublin, or one of the Crown or Dulux paint shops). If you go easy on the accessories they aren't any more expensive than Woodies et al. You ma have to travel further though.

Woodies doesn't have a lot of permanent, knowledgeable staff in general although there are exceptions of course.

Matt emulsion will take to the soft sheen (even better than silk). And now you can get washable matts which look very well in sitting rooms etc.
Dulux do them but Colortrend is far superior in my opinion.
