2011/2 Playoff Teams - The usual Upheaval?

For the last 15 seasons, a minimum of 5 teams that have made the playoffs in the previous season fail to make it the next.

I see a lot of comment in the US media on who these 5 teams will be this year. What nobody has said but which I feel will affect this statistic this year is the lockout.

The lockout should favour the established teams who have some coaching turnover but very little, some turnover of players but not the key ones (unless upgraded) and kept the playbooks the same.

I can see some teams improving where this is the second or third year of a regime, i.e. Rams, but where new coaches have come in or new QBs have come in, the lack of OTAs, Minicamps etc. have to effect their ability to win games.

I think that Seattle, Chicago & Kansas City may struggle but as for the rest, I can see the 2011 season bucking that trend.

I am just very surprised that the commentators in the US with their post lockout warm feeling have failed to even mention this as a factor.
