Just got this newsfeed from UKfree TV re. local TV on Freeview post DSO. The locations indentified have apparently just been announced by Ofcom:

    http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051866

Seems NI will have three locations:

    Derry/Londonderry
Limavady, including Parts of Ballymoney and Coleraine
    Belfast, including Lisburn

Not quite sure what this means for the existing local TV stations such as NVTV

The one for Belfast is interesting.

I'm currently getting Freeview from Divis so it'll be interesting if I get any local TV post DSO.

Think Newtownabby and Bangor should also be indentified areas, as both are quite large areas aof population.

Cant see Limavady ever having one TBH

    Ive wondered this myself.

Will these be in addition to/replacement for NVTV and C9 or will it merely be a matter of the existing services going digital ?

How many of the local terrestrial TV channels in Great Britain are still going? Are there any? Channel 9 seems to have been much more successful than the stations across the water.

NVTV seems to havce survived with no problems Richard, even though it's really difficult to receive in any part of the city.

You can view it online though:

Wonder how much money they'll be charged for going on Freeview, if they decide to go down that route.

Will community/local TV stations be charged less ?

Must e-mail them to see what they're going to do.

Last time I spoke to them, they indicated they did have plans to go onto Freeview after DSO.

I wouldn't imagine they'll be allowed to continue on analogue.

True, and thanks for the link, although what I meant was are there any local tv stations still going in England, Scotland or Wales?

Channel M in Manchester did survive DSO, although there was a period where it was off-air (although it continued on cable and satellite), but it since closed, I believe.

Just looked at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C9TV and I was wondering whether Channel 9 is still going. Anyone know?

There's more information released by Ofcom recently on this, although I don't understand much of it! http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/consultations/localtv/statement/local-tv-statement.pdf

It seems to me that they are advertising for one multiplex operator to operate many sites, including one for Belfast.

I wonder if Northern Visions TV will apply ?

I assume they don't have any future on analogue channel 62 after the 24th October ?

I don't know - though they seem to have other problems:

Yes, indeed Richard noticed that on Facebook a while ago.

It's a shame really. From what I've seen of their programmes (I can receive the station at my parent's house over in East Belfast) they're actually quite good and very well put together.

They did have a live feed a while back.

Notice this appears to be gone now. Strange. Just archived material and podcasts etc.

Must e-mail them to see what's happening after 24th October.
