BBC1HD, ITV1HD and C4HD on Sky

    Hi

If I get Sky (and I would get the 1TB box if that makes a difference), can you definitely no longer get the S2 channnels (BBC1, C4, not sure about ITV) on other channels? Or is it box dependent?

I would like to get Sky, but really like the HD channels on Freesat... I would like to keep them if we move.

    Any advice appreciated!

    1TB box doesn't make a difference.

You can get BBCHD on the Sky EPG but not BBC1HD.
    Can't get C4HD on Sky.
Can get ITV1HD on the Other Channels.

Since last software upgrade it seems the majority of boxes now default to Irsih EPG even after full software reboot.

Has anyone had any success getting this reversed or do I have to ring SKY and pretend I have moved to England ?

if you get a box now , afaik you cant add it to other channels .as it is on s2.

if you had it prior to the software change then on some boxes you would have been able to keep it.

if like me you have an old tompson box then you cant add it.

(but i do get the default uk epg if i remove my viewing card)

On my previous Amstrad box I had BBC1 HD on Other Channels. When the settings for BBC1 HD were changed I still had it on my box.

But I had a problem with my box and I had to replace it with a new Amstrad. Tried to program in BBC1 HD into Other Channels - wasn't allowed.

So if you have BBC1 HD already you're lucky.

But if you delete it, you won't be able to program it in again (I think). Likewise if you have a new box you won't be able to program it in either (I think).

Many thanks for this info. Have BBC1 HD. Been trying to figure out why I can't get Channel 4 HD all night.

    Not available to add .. CHANNEL 4 HD 12.607 V 27500 3/4

the sky box will not let you input 27500 .

I am able to enter all the details to tune in Ch4 including 'symbol rate' of 27.5 but I still get a message saying "no signal found". My box is an amstrad if that matters.

    It's not 27/500 it's 29000 that's why you can't tune it in.

im sure we'll eventually have Ch4HD on Irish sky box's but this wont happen untill the Northern Ireland version of Channel 4 is broadcasting in HD. The Situation with bbc1Hd is propably similiar, will have to wait for BBC1 NI to be in HD before available to Irish sky boxs.

I don't think it has anything to do with Northern Ireland. They continue to block programmes on Channel 4 on the Irish Sky EPG and I don't think C4 HD will ever appear until they can block the same programmes as C4 SD.

It's a shame really as the World Athletics are on and look good in HD.

On Sky's own help forum, a Sky rep has posted a reply (6th September) saying thats its:
the result of a technical issue that we are looking to resolve.

A further post on the 8th September from a different Sky rep says that:
As soon as the issue is resolved we will post on the forum to let the community know.

    Issue could be sorted yet???
