hey, a friend of mine applied for a university place via fetac. he got offered nothing in round zero, but he expects to be offered it in round 1. but am I correct in thinking university places are only ioffered in round zero? I don't want him getting his hopes up if the offers for university have already been made? any help would be appreciated.

no there are two different ways of applying to a course through the fetac scheme. your fetac results are assigned points (with a maximum of 400) and you compete with the normal LC students in round 1

There is a difference in the way points are calculated for the universities as opposed to the Institutes of Technology. The pilot scheme (ie max 400 points) does not apply to the Universities so the above information isn't correct, they use the HELS system.

The majority of places for FETAC applicants to universities are offered in Round Zero so it highly unlikely that any places will be offered in Round 1 unless a high number of people do not accept in Round Zero which is also unlikely. Do remember there are very few places under the HELS scheme for the FETAC places in the universities.

See the post CAO offers for FETAC Applicants at the top of this thread
