Problems logging in

I have have an oldish laptop running off Windows XP. Basically when you turn it on, it brings up the log in page. It's saying that my password is invalid, although I can’t remember changing it. But, its been 6 weeks or so since I logged on, so I'm not sure if it was changed for security reasons or something? (it's nothing to do with caps lock or num lock). Then is says 'Have you forgotten your password?' But it gives you NO option to say, ‘yes I have, give me a new one’. There are no other icons at all on the screen to click on and I can’t access start menu, so its like a blank page.

Can anyone shed any light? Is there anyway I can bypass the admin log in?
