Hard Drive

Last night during a power cut to Waterford I was using my PC and the abrupt cut destroyed my PC (it was a piece of crap anyways). I'm going to get a new PC, but I had alot of data and image files on that PC. I want to know is it possible to swap over my Hard Drive to the new PC for a few hours to get that data off. Meaning is it just that straight-forward to disconnect and reconnect it. Or is there other tasks involved such as going into the BIOS etc.
    Thanks.

If the new pc has the same connections (either SATA or IDE) then yeah it should just be a matter of plugging it in either as the master or a slave.

If you want to pick up a caddy though you can plug it in to that and then use it as a usb drive and get the files that way.

Could you explain "Caddy" a bit more please, this sounds very interesting

Caddy is just an empty HDD enclosure that you put your internal 3.5" hard drive in to.

You can then connect the caddy to a pc via usb and access the data on the hard drive.

I got this one and it works for both IDE or Sata connections.

i went and bought a Caddy today from PC World, and its brilliant was able to access all my data. I even had a Hard Drive from a PC that I had 8 years ago and i was able to access that too.
