I don't work for IBOOD but seriously? No-one thinks this is a good deal ??? :D

    I'll bite.

It's a good deal, however, HTIBs are never a great investment; trust me, I've bought one before and regretted it. If this was an offer for a 3D Blu-ray player on its own, I'd say there'd be more interest.

With that said, it's kind of hard to get excited about 3D when things are in constant flux. Only yesterday Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and XpanD announced that they're planning on releasing a universal standard for active 3D glasses so that compatibility issues will become a thing of the past. As this new standard will only be compatible with this year's TV models, early adopters will be left out in the cold with their 2010 models. I suppose such is life in the tech industry.

Anyway, cheers for the post as it is a good deal. ;)

For clarity sake, he meant he had purchased a Home Theatre In a Box system before, not necessarily this one itself. Then again, he may mean this in particular but it does not sound like that is the case.

Just easier to clear this up before the deal runs out.

    Edit: Deal over anyway

Yes, FatB is right. I was referring to having owned a Home Theatre In a Box system before, not having specifically owned the one in this deal.

Yeah I got that bit, I was just wondering why you regretted in general. I was thinking of getting one at some stage and was wondering what the downsides were.

I bought a Sony DAV-SC5 HTIB several years ago, when I was new to the whole AV world, and I didn't realise how limiting they could be. For example, it didn't have the greatest speakers and came with proprietary connectors, the best video output was scart and it didn't upscale DVDs. For its time it was okay but when I needed to upgrade, I had to upgrade everything. Moral of the story, they can be limiting.

No doubt you can buy decent HTIBs, however, I'd still go for separate products each time, i.e. Blu-ray player, surround sound speaker setup and AV receiver.

    Ah thanks.

I see these deals pop up from time to time and am always tempted to upgrade my basic PC and speakers setup but would like to do it properly, ie buy everything separately and keep it for 10 years or more.
