Hey all. Im looking to get a portable satelite dish but having a hard time finding where I can buy one in Ireland. Best I can get is buying off ebay, but for convenience sake id rather a bricks and mortar shop (though if the price is way more expensive id go ebay).

    Cheers! :)

FYI, had a look a few of the sites mentioned in the sticky but cant find mini dishes.

    The mini-dishes don't really work.

In what way? By mini I mean a 45-50 cm dish. TBH, its not the dish size thats really important to me, its the lack of having to mount it that im after (tripod).

You can get a tripod mount for a regular dish. Also heavier "patio mounts".

60 to 65cm is a minimum size of dish in Ireland. 45 to 50cm is OK only for S.E. England.

Right, so where can I find one of these heavier patio mounts? I'll try suss out a dish in lidl or aldi next time they're in, or get a mini sky dish.

I 'play' with a mini-dish which I clamp to my window cill ... Silvercrest ..... and am happily surprised by the reception I get from it.

can i hijack here with a quick question? the aul pair are thinking of doing away with sky and getting the freeview channels in...now i have the free view in my own room, so is it possible to run the other tvs in the house off my sat?

they were quoted 350 to do the house...which seems mental when my one is from lidl for like 80 quid.

For clarity - Freeview = UK terrestrial channels. Freesat = UK sat channels.

Yes, your existing Sky dish is perfectly fine. You can run multiple boxes off the one dish, if you have a quad (or octo) LNBF. If the Sky installation is reasonably new, then there's a good chance the existing LNBF is a quad (rather than single) output.
