Heading to Tenerife & will rent a road bike for a week at the end September.

I'm looking to know if there any bike shops worth visiting. I don't have anything in mind to buy, but wouldn't mind taking a look either. Seems that not all places that rent bikes are actual bike shops!

Also, I've seen a few threads here where people briefly mention some spins they've done on the island. Wondering if any of you have them mapped out or can share some more info. Would appreciate it . Thanks.

Planning to cycle there in November, and looking forward to it. Was on holidays in Tenerife two years ago and spotted some other hotel guests using Ridley bikes from BikePoint El Medano. Seemed like the real thing, bicycles in excellent condition etc. Their website looks good, and they have a shop - http://www.medanobike.com/en/home.html

This is the company I used in April. He is based in the north but delivered and collected to me in the south of the island. He was really helpful. Just tell him what type of pedals match your shoes and bring your own clothing and water bottles.

It's really hilly due to it being basically a volcano and is great training. Watch out for cross winds and plan your routes to avoid the motorway which is harder than you think as all signs sort of lead you back on to it.

There are route maps on his website and head out early to avoid the heat. Even when sunny on the beach it can be wet on the volcano so be prepared but enjoy it
