US Driving License Problem

    Need assistance with the following please:

    we have an american aupair who has a full driving licence from america and an international driving permit but we were quoted 2600euro for car insurance. does anyone know if its possible to exchange a US driving license for an irish full driving license without having to apply for a provisional license etc. as it only seems to be if you are from europe when you can exchange

    help anyone???:)

    She'll have to go through the entire process from the beginning. She can drive on her American license for the first year that she is in the country. I went through this when I moved over from the States in 2006.

    You can't exchange US/IRL driving licence, she needs to do a full Irish driving test.

    can i check were you insured as a provisional or full for that first year as insurance company is saying provisional which is 2600euro
