Problem with Itunes

Hi all, I use a Dell Inspiron Mini for music and stuff at home and lately my Itunes has been playing up. If any of you are old enough to remember CD's, the best way I can describe what happens is to say it sounds like a CD sticking for a few seconds at the start of a track, then all is normal. Would anyone have any idea how I can sort this. The version of Itunes is the latest, downloaded a week or so ago. Grateful for any help.

Is your Inspiron running Snow Leopard or Lion? :D

Your problem may not be iTunes, the hard drive may be getting full. Does the same thing happen in a different mp3 player?

I'm on a mac and I get this sometimes too - just randomly occurs and disappears every so often. Cant help with what causes it though - just thought I would empathize! :)

Thanks to both of you. I use neither of those systems and the hard drive is virtually empty. As I said, I only use the mini for music and light browsing. I'll guess I'll have to keep looking.
