There is a sizeable hole in my wifes 97 ford escort car exhaust (Not in the pipe but the cylinder behind the pipe). What would the cost of replacing this does anyone know or are there parts still available in the market for a car this old? Am i right in saying that the increased noise level would be the only major problem the hole would create? Given the car is 14 years old is there any temporary fix other than putting some duct tape over the hole?

You can get an exhaust bandage, but its generally just designed for the pipes and not the boxes.

If you are looking at a replacment box, then check out gtexhausts.co.uk They are cheap, and cheap delivery and you can generally only order the section of the exhaust you need and not the whole assembly.

car would fail nct also exaust fumes could enter car while sitting in traffic which would not be very good for your health what you need is called a silencer and quick fit exausts or any of those outfits could tell you the cost of replacing it it should not cost more than 100 euro tops probably a good bit less well worth it if you intend to keep using the car
