Bike storage

Hi, I have a normal wooden shed is the best way to describe it, the type you buy in any garden centre with a pointy roof. At the moment I just lean my bike up against the lawn mower by the pedal. Now when I get my new bike I dont want to do that - I also dont want to spend too much money.

I was thinking about 2 verticle bits of 2 x 4 coming down from the apex of the roof, reinforced with 2 horizonals from the side that will meet like 'L' shapes one 18" back from the first, then on the left of the 'L' I would mount some hooks with padding (something like 'uL'), so that I can hang the bike by the front and the back of the top tube.

I hope this makes sense, surely someone has done similar - any advise? TIA

I got a garden shed with a pointy roof recently as well. I bought these to hang the bike from the roof. Works perfectly for me.

There was a very a nifty storage solution posted here at one stage. For all the world it was like a lap dancing pole (I say looked like, as I've only ever seen one on TV ;)) secured by telescopic extention so that it wedged between the ceiling and floor, with clamps at 3 different heights to hang 3 bikes. You may not have that kind of height in a garden shed, but it might stack 2 bikes??

I'll see if I can find that thread with the photo.

Edit: Here's the link to that photo - Just after noticing that you commented on it yourself at the time anyway!!

    Shed?
    Lawn mower?
    Pointy?

Such bikes, as you well know, especially new road bikes, are house pets and should not be hung in the shed like a bold child!!

    You Sir should know better!!

Yeah 'I' do know better - not going to go any further on it! But with a 7 year old, the shed that only I have a key is the safest bet.

If I proposed storing my bicycle in the house, I'd soon find myself in the shed!:)

If I wasn't allowed to bring my bike into the house, my wife would be in the shed.

Only joking. Woodies sell large vinyl covered hooks. Buy two and screw into inside wall of shed to hang your winter bike by it's cross bar. They are hinged to fold up when not used and cost about 20 euro. The plastic covering prevents scratches. Obviously your summer bike goes in the lounge.
