    Hi,

Hoping some of you could help me out. I need some ideas on what I can do to cheer up my g/f/. We're together a few years now. We've had our ups and downs, and recently went through a rough patch... but we worked through it.

It seems like for the past couple of years though NOTHING has gone our way (money worries mainly, but other things also)... I'm managing to keep positive but this is really starting to get my GF down.

I need to do something in the short term to take her mind off things, we just need to relax and unwind. We have some time off work coming up but no holidays due to the fact that we can't afford it at the moment.

I'm struggling to come up with ideas on what to do so I was hoping you could help me!

    Thanks in advance!

If you think she's just a bit fed up and this is some kind of continual depression then maybe getting her out of the house and doing a few simple and cheap things could help? If you live in Dublin you could get the Dart out to Bray or Howth (I went to Howth today and people were feeding seals off the pier, it was a great day out), you could look on the internet and see if there are any wildlife sanctuaries or parks or woods nearby to go for a walk, or maybe borrow a tent off someone and go camping for the weekend? You don't need money to have fun :)

Hope things look up for you money wise!

Definitely keep an eye on boardsdeals or citydeal. You could get a bed and breakfast or a night in a hotel somewhere at a great discount!! This one is on at the moment :

If you go to stay somewhere new down the country you could explore the local area and take her for a picnic or afternoon tea.

There are loads of things you could do or places you could visit!! You could take her somewhere she's never been before like the Burren or the Ailwee Caves (they have a great gift shop and visitor's centre and do really good tours) or take a drive around the Ring of Kerry or take the Atlantic Drive in Achaill. Anywhere out around Killary Harbour is also quite nice or Glencarr waterfall is also lovely! The cliffs of Moher are also a must-see! Galway city is a lovely place to stay, shop and eat and would also allow for a trip around Connemara.

Perhaps you could book her in for a treatment in a spa if she really needs to unwind. There's a great deal on massage/facial stuff in Dublin at the moment!

Of course, you don't have to go to any great expense to do these things. You could easily surprise her when she gets home from work one evening - have a nice hot bath running for her with some candles lit and let her have a soak while you finish cooking her dinner. Sit her down to a nice dinner and some dessert and chocolates or something and then spend the weekend at home with some dvd's, treats, breakfast in bed etc. If you really want to get her relaxed you could always try your hand at some spa treatments yourself - give her a shoulder/back massage or something!

That's all I can come up with for now but I'll post again if I get any more ideas! :)
