I'm getting white wooden venetian ones, and he said they should be here between 10 and 14 days... will keep you posted on what they're like, but they costed alot less than I thought so ya might want to have a look at their site

Personally I don't think venetian blinds work that well. Honestly, if you want to saves yourself a good bit of money, go to hilarys.ie and get blinds made to measure and fit them yourself. This isn't what I done I bought pre made blinds from argos and cut them to shape, but I would have used hilarys blinds if I had known.

Either way it worked out allot cheaper than getting them fitted. Just my opinion... :)

Or was it cheaper than getting a better quality blind? The argos ones I've seen appear pretty rubbishy compared to some more expensive suppliers, and do not take the sun very well.

I found Hilarys a complete rip-off. I knew they were going to be expensive as I saw the rep's reaction on the night he was measuring when, before he gave me a price, I told him I had got one other price already and would be shopping around with the market that is in it at the minute and the number of blinds companies in the area. Suddenly he said that his PDA was running out of battery and he'd have to ring me the next day with the price.

He quoted me 2k initially despite the fact that they were advertising 50% off certain blinds at the time and we picked a roller blind that was on this offer. The Sales rep told me he couldn't do any better on the 2k when I told him the one quote I had already was for €1600.

Later that day their central office rang and offered to match the €1600, despite what the rep had said. I told the girl I'd think about it but that I wasn't impressed that they were advertising 50% off yet were 20% more expensive than another provider on their initial quote.

I then got two more quotes, one from a company in Kingscourt in Cavan and one from a company in Castleblayney. Kingscourt company quoted me €1350, the Castleblayney one €1370. Hilarys rang again one of the evenings and asked me had I thought about their quote. I explained about the two lower quotes and she said there was no way she could match those quotes, despite the fact that they are advertising 50% off.

I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Still haven't got my blinds but certainly wouldn't go near that company for them. Advertising 50% off yet they are more expensive than anyone? I'd hate to see the price if we went with full priced blinds that weren't on offer.

ok, they sound fairly bad. I just mentioned them because I saw you can get a roller blind made to measure and you can fit it yourself for roughly €100. Again, blinds are a funny thing, you hear people spending thousands on them. I've only spent maybe 400 on my entire house, they dont look particularily trendy or modern or whatever, but they suit the requirement. You'd never notice that they were self fitted or a bit cheap
