Unlimited calls & texts

Heard an ad on the radio for emobile, they say unlimited calls and texts for €49 a month. Then at the end of the ad they say "calls limited to 45 hours a month, texts limited to 10,000 texts a month"

How are they allowed do that? False advertising, no laws for this kinda thing?

Well you wouldn't do that many texts but that much in calls maybe.and yeah I agree its bollix,unlimited should mean unlimited.

Oxford online dictionary: Unlimited
1 not limited or restricted in terms of number, quantity, or extent:
offshore reserves of gas and oil are not unlimited
Mathematics(of a problem) having an infinite number of solutions.
2 (of a company) not limited.

If it is unlimited then there is no limit. Fair usage policy is irrelevant, they shouldn't be using a word that implies no limit in their add if there is one.

emobile offer 45,000 minutes a month, not 45 hours.... and considering there is only 44,000 (ish) minutes in a normal month. You'll be doing well to get through them all!

As for only 10,000 text's a month, its disgraceful, you can only send 1 text every 4.5 minutes for the entire month!

It's 45,000 minutes and 10,000 texts.

60*24= 1440 minutes in a day

1440*31=44,640 minutes in a month

So if my calculations are right there's only 44,640 minutes in a month. So technically, the calls side is unlimited. And who'd send 10,000 texts a month?

Hence why bother to spell it out in the very next sentence to "Unlimited" in their advert...when the limit is moreorless unattainable...

Try and use up all the Fair Use stuff. If you can then fair fcuks, bring it up with them.

it's not misleading, it's an outright lie. yes you get a lot for what you pay, but it's still a lie.

I wrote a complaint to the ASAI about this very product from e-mobile. Apparently the ASAI decided it's fine to use unlimited when the fair use/limitations affect 1% or less of their total customers. They must be able to demonstrate this.

This is from some ruling regarding a case against Vodafone from 2007. I can dig out the case number from their response to me if anybody is interested. I think it's a load of shíte too, unlimited is pretty unambiguous.

Obviously it's going to be limited - by the number of hours in a day, the battery/electricity supply you have access to, the power in your thumb to press the send button..
It is unlimited by, say, the starving children in Africa though, I think.
