Hi, hope someone can help. I have 2 questions firstly regarding C.E scheme jobs and one parent benefit, if you take a C.E job do you Continue to get One parent benefit? and is your Rent Allowance affected?

My second question is regarding child benefit, i have a 17 year old who has been put back 2 Academic years, so she is actually starting T.y in September.
So when she is 18 and Child benefit is stopped she will have 2 years of leaving cert left to complete in her education. I already know that the clothing & Footwear allowance continues to age 22 if in education, as does Qualified Child for any Benefit continue to age 22,
My Question is, if my Child benefit is stopped for her at 18, is there any Student allowance or similar to compensate for the loss of a benefit that keeps One parents just floating above the Surface?
I really do not know how we will manage next year, or how anyone else does in this situation.

If you are getting One-Parent Family Payment (OFP) you may be able to keep some of your OFP - see our worksheet on OFP and Community Employment. If you are getting a disability payment you may be able to keep some or all of it, depending on the payment. If you are getting a Non-Contributory Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Pension you may be able to keep some of your payment. However if you are getting a Widow's, Widower'sor Surviving Civil Partner's Contributory Pension you will keep all of your payment. You should check your particular situation with your Social Welfare Local Office.
    Secondary benefits

You will retain your medical card.
You will retain an entitlement to the secondary benefits you were receiving immediately before going onto Community Employment provided you continue to satisfy the conditions for these benefits.
Rent supplement: The amount of Rent Supplement which you get may be reduced.

bearclaire, mp22 is just trying to assist you. He does not know your exact financial circumstances - if you want a definite answer, you need to ask social welfare and your community welfare officer - only they can tell you for sure.
Your child benefit stops once your child reaches 18, regardless of them being in full time education allowance or not.
You can still receive a child dependent increase on your One Parent Family claim while they are still in full time education however. The OPF payment is changing though in relation to age limits - have a look here for more information on it http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/BirthChildrenAndFamilies/OneParentFamilies/Pages/opfp.aspx
