Do your clothes smell really good after washing?

What powder or liquid do you use?

My clothes never have that really fresh perfumed smell that I have smelt from other peoples clothes. What do they use?

    Any tips?

Fabric conditioner will give them a nice smell.
I use Bold 2 in 1 the blue one - here a link for a euro off and it's often on special offer in tescos too. https://www.supersavvyme.co.uk/bold/coupon.aspx

Also try scenting where you store your clothes (with drawer liners, cotton ball with drops of essential oil, scented sachets you hang in the wardrobe etc) - sometimes drawers and wardrobes can give clothes a smell.

    What are you using atm?

Actually I've often wondered this too, because I chop and change all the time between detergents.

I had to wait till I got home, because I never remember what I'm using, but I currently have Surf Small & Mighty - sunshine orchard flavour! it's really nice and fresh. When I hang my washing up it scents the entire house, and I can smell it on my clothes for days. Gorgeous!

I think the smell usually comes from the softner. :D Although persil washing powder does leave a little scent but not a strong a scent as softner would. :D

Ariel Actilif Gel with Febreze - Not exactly cheap but works very well and makes everything smell nice and fresh.

fairy non bio and also Fairy fabric softner. Smells lovely. I also use Comfort ironing water in the iron. Leave a lovely smell.

Sometime when I run out of the ironing water I use a little perfume in plain water.

The smell comes from the softener :) I use Comfort - at the moment I use the purple one, it's called "blueberry & jasmine twist" and it leaves a lovely smell - it's purple. There's one too that is cream coloured and "johoba" is in the name (did I spell that right?) - anyway that's a nice smelling one too :)

I use bold, powder or liquid. I prefer the blue one, or the surf gardenia and jasmine.

I use persil non-bio and a little plain fabric softener - Comfort or Fairy Pure - as I find the others too strong.

OP your washing machine might be clogged a little in the intake or outflow, that can sometimes cause a smell to go back into the machine. Also, if you overfill it, the clothes cannot rinse properly and they end up smelly (more than 2/3rd full is too full). Next thing is if you leave them in the machine for too long after washing (e.g. overnight), they go stale. Final thing if you don't dry them properly soon after taking them out, again, they go stale.

    OP here.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Just to clarify. My clothes don't smell stinky or anything. They just don't smell as good as some of my colleagues.

I don't normally use conditioner or anything extra other then powder.

I will give a conditioner a go. And maybe switch from powder to liquid?

I use fairy liquid and comfort pure, but it is important to run your washing machine on a boil wash every 6 weeks or so as this clears all soapy residue from the machine, take it from one who didnt and ended up buying a brand new machine.:D

I don't use fabric softener as I heard before that it can damage the fibres in clothes
I just use Surf powder, the one in the pink box and my clothes always smell lovely and fresh.

You could try getting those little sachets to put in your clothes drawers/wardrobe to prolong fresh scents.

Daz violet blossom blast liquid detergent is amazing. It leaves your clothes smelling so nice!

Ariel Excel Gel (the purple one) is what I use, or Fairy Gel is I need a non bio option and both leave the clothes smelling lovely and clean. If I use fabric softener (I used to use it all the time but not so much anymore) I use Comfort Pure - has a light scent and leaved the clothes super soft. A lot of washing powders/liquids or softeners have a very strong smell the can be a bit sicky after a while so make sure you smell the box/bottle before you buy. I prefer my clothes to smell like clean clothes than a sickly sweet artificial smell.

Keeping the washing machine clean is a good way to make sure the powder/liquid works really well - I put a bottle of vinegar (just the cheapy stuff you can get at the supermarket, the small bottles) into the drum and put on the hottest wash possible to get it cleaned out. I do this once a month/6 weeks and it does make a difference (the wash the directly proceeds the "cleaning wash" tends to come out super clean and fresh compared the the one that preceded it!). Got the tip from Kim And Aggie years ago and swear by it!

Those of you who use things to keep the clothes smelling nice in the wardrobe/drawer - where do you buy such things?

Ariel excel gel for me too! It's just simply fresh and clean.

I don't use fabric softener either. I have never had the need for it. Plus I like my towels scratchy:D
