hi, i bought a biotech waste water treatment system back in 2006 and have been having problems from about 6 months after being installed. The problem is that it stinks really bad 90% of the time. Whenever i have to walk past it i have to cover my mouth/nose. Its disgusting. Any time i have friends over they always make a comment about it, like "jesus is that tank kicking up again" or "christ that tank stinks". I had a member of biotech out to take a look at it and he said it was normal for them to smell some bit. I said surely not that bad and his answer was "thats just the way it is". He adjusted the air valves (or so he said he did) and said that it should make a difference. Biotech charged me for his visit and still to this day no difference, its worse. Im wondering has anyone had problems with a similar system. Ihave to empty it out twice a year which isnt normal i think. Im sick of the disgusting smell around the back of the house.

solway, there is no way in which that is acceptable, contact the company again and write a formal complaint and then contact the manufacturer. Manufacturers tend to react strongly to installs that affect their image or reputation. It may be worth contacting you local council or EPA but I wouldn`t expect too much from them.

check the waste water outfall at the back,if its not getting away quick enough the waste is building up to the top,

I to have a Biotech treatment unit installed since 2010, my tank seems to emit similarly strong smells periodically. Had never thought about contacting the company as i thought this was the norm.

If you have to empty twice a year then it's possible your unit is too small. Your not the first customer to complain of this about this company. Your system should have been to correct size per the number of bedrooms in your house. However many customers up the country are having to clean their systems regularly because even tho they paid for a larger system Biotech sent the smaller one.
If you don't have a flow by gravity from your tank you need to install a pump to pump out the water.
Also check to see if their compressor is still running inside the tank. That needs to e running day and night and make sure that you have your tank vented.
I understand your frustration, their service was very poor. Unfortunately you won't get any satisfaction from this company. They're out of business for a long time even tho they changed their name with a fancy website.
    Sorry

Not sure of the individuals involved or their business in Africa but its appalling to see such a mess here after one company. There are a few good reliable treatment companies around here in Leinster. I'm not sure about what other companies are available in Cork to service Biotech broken systems.

I installed a Klargester Bio Disc system 6 years ago. Never a minutes problem
with it. It is important to make sure the percolation is working properly. It's the first thing I check if inspecting a system with a problem. The Klargester wasn't cheap but I wanted to be sure I wasn't going to have any problems with sewerage.
