    Hello,
I wish to renovate a house which has an existing horiz convector rad, albeit a dated model. I was considering a nice funky tower rad from B&Q which has a BTU output of 4764 units. Another company stated I need a rad with a BTU output of 12000 units. The size of the room is 5m x 5m = 25m2. Any advice out there?

There are plenty of free radiator sizing sites online, 12000 btus seems excessive to me for a room that size but if that is what is required then the renovation will require an overhaul of the insulation.

Thanks for the advice, I have tried some of those websites they all advise on circa 12000 btu output rad

Personally, I think it's better to oversize than undersize, so that you have the option of running a condensing boiler in future

david4791, if your happy with that load then I would suggest at least two radiators positioned to eliminate cold spots.
