    Hi all,

I have been saving up all summer to go on a holiday with the gf. We have recentley split so instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself i have decided i am going to go on holidays on my own.

Looking to go around 17th Sept for 1 week, have flexibilty around time off work give or take a few days.

What im wondering is How will I go about booking a holiday?

Im looking for a sun holiday, spain/majorica/portugal would be my prefrences but would go to Canaries, Tenerife but not intrested in Ibiza, Crete etc.....

The ex gf would usually do all the searching booking hotels etc and now im all on my own and tbh I don't have a notion of where to start. Have had a search and holidays coming up around 750euro on some sites. Has anyone got any tips, obvs the cheaper the better :D

Im not fussed about standard of accomodation once it has a pool close to resort.

For one person it's usually better to book flights separately. I know a lot of those package holidays are only for two people, and to go it alone would be expensive.

Why not just go on skyscanner.net or Ryanair or Aerlingus and find a flight somewhere nice. Then go to hostels.com or similar and find a place to stay. You can get a single room in a hotel and the you'll be in a lively place, in a resort you'll be surrounded by families.

I'm going to move this thread over to the general Travel forum for more advice.

Madrid is a great city, plenty to see and you could get a bus or train out to Toledo and Segovia. Seville is also an amazing city and you could get a train to Cadiz which has wonderful beaches. Alicantge is also very nice and has a city beach.

I went on holiday alone a few years ago to Tunisia with Sunway in April. I booked a hotel my sister had been to where they organised activities each day and there were day trips to take. The hotel also had lovely spa facilities. I really enjoyed it and it didn't work out too expensive on my own. I got chatting to other people and still got to have time to myself. Found it all very relaxing.
