    hi guys,

I was in UL for 6 yrs and they had a decent set up for Humanities PhD students there, varying sizes of bullpens and research areas.

Was just wondering does anyone know does something like this exist in NUIG and where would i find details on it?

    Cheers

Hi, I'm new to boards so haven't a clue how to post a similar thread on my page! I'm moving up to do a postgrad in NUIG! I was wondering the very same thing, if you find out anything I'd really appreciate if you shared haha!

Me too! As far as I know theres about 15 computers in Cairnes for business postgrads/masters students but they're in an open access area (aka noisy).

I know you have a desk. Don't think there are anything like that for masters as far as I know...

I'm doing a research masters anyway, so I don't know if that would make a diff? Prob not, and is it just me or is the NUIG web page very confusing ha!

All the NUIG webpages are crap.
Don't worry though - they'll change it to something worse when you get used to it.

I know that there is a Postgrad study area on the top floor of the library, It requires a key so it's just postgrads up there!

Sweet thanks! Also does anyone know is there a specific date that research students start or does the supervisor get in contact with you?

Heard from my supervisor (History) that they accommodate PhD students in a bullpen area. Anyone be able to tell me where it is? I'm guessing they'd be lumped in with the Arts crowd.

I'm not sure. but there is an area to the side, a large room which is just for postgrads...

There's another stairs up, but I presume that is to the roof, as I have never seen anyone go up there and there are only 3 floors...

I never said it had it's own floor, I said it's on the top floor, and it is. By the top floor I mean the 2nd floor where the science books are located.

There are many areas round the campus for research students. Main areas for Arts students are the Moore Institute and the Arts Millenium Building. There is also an open plan area for Business & Economics research students on the first floor of the Cairnes Building (with Swipe access).
