Using ET9000/VU+ as NFS server?

Have a Clarke Tech ET9000 running egami image, and playing around with using it as an nfs server to serve recordings to another linux e1 stb on network!

Technically it should work, but most people use nfs the other way around - the stb as a client with the server being a nas or home built linux server.

The ET9000/VU+ and some Dreambox's are powerful enough to run as a server, and as far as I know nfs is not heavy on resources, so was wondering has anyone really tried it out and how successful was it?

Just to let you know have had some success on playing recordings

Server is ET9000 and client is TM9100
Had to mount with low rsize ie: rsize=4096, otherwise tm9100 would lock up, or picture/sound would stutter

Got another nfs client working, this time a WDTV Live HD media player which had been flashed with WDLXTV firmware.
Watched Ireland V France game on the WDTVLive (HD recording from France 2HD) from the ET9000 using nfs with no problems at all.
ET9000 seem to work as normal during playback.

    That sounds pretty neat!

Would it be possible to serve recordings to a DM500S?

Good work anyway. Those WDTV Live's seem to be the bizz, especially with different firmware!

Don't know anything about dm500, but from what I read, as long as the image you are running supports an nfs client, then I don't see why not.
However, if you are play a HD recording, well it won't look so goodtongue.gif

You can also use CIFS as client and samba as the server, but if your client and server is nix based, then why not go native.

As regards the WD live, there is some handy stuff - found an enigma-e2 plugin which allows you to watch what's on your stb (uses webif calls to change channels) - appears under media servers.

Also, tried out MacBook Pro for a few minutes and all worked well playing recording with vlc, however not good enough over wireless, but works fine over wired.
